List of Common Entrance Tests (CET) / Admission Codes
The admissions to the programmes of studies in the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University are
primarily through common entrance tests (CET) conducted by the University or on merit of the qualifying
degrees. The programmes of studies are grouped together, on the basis of common syllabi (for CET), for
the purpose of conduction of CET. The programme(s) groups, wherever a CET is to be conducted, are
assigned a unique CET code. If a programme or programme group is such that the admissions for them is
not on the basis of a CET conducted by the University, then the CET code for that programme or
programme group is treated as the Admission Code. Thus, without creating any ambiguity, this document
may use the term CET code or Admission Code as synonyms. The University reserves the right to cancel
any CET.
Only Indian citizens are eligible for admission through this admission brochure.
Terms and conditions notified in this brochure, and notified time to time on the University website
http://ipu.ac.in, shall be binding on all applicants. In case of any dispute, the decision of the Vice‐

NOTE:
1. The master of technology programmes are run in the regular mode in general. Though for some
programmes classes are conducted on the weekends (and have been specified in the above table).
2. For the programmes run in regular mode, the admissions would be offered to applicants / candidates
with valid and qualified GATE score in the relevant disciplines as specified in Chapter 2. If seats
remain vacant / unfilled after admissions on the basis of valid and qualified GATE score, seats would
be offered to CET qualified students.
3. For programmes of studies in the weekend mode, the admissions would be based on the merit of
CET. Thus, all applicants who are desirous of taking admissions in the programmes of studies offered
in weekends must appear for the respective CET (even if they have a valid and qualified GATE.

4.GATE scholarship would be available if and only if approved by the statutory bodies (AICTE) for the
regular programmes of studies. No GATE scholarship would be available to students admitted to
programmes of studies in the weekend mode or against sponsored candidates category.

Why is Career Counselling Important

Every student faces the question of ‘what next’ after class 12th and 10th. Firstly, to decide a stream, and then, to decide the graduation course!

The Examination Branch is one of the most sensitive organs of an University. Ours is an affiliating cum teaching University. The conduct of Examination for its programmes is, therefore, the major function of this Branch. Apart from conducting Common Entrance Test for admissions to various programmes of the University, the Examination Branch also conducts ‘End Semester' Examination for various programmes being run in the University Schools of Studies and the Self Financing Affiliated Colleges.

Common Entrance Test (CET)

The admissions to various programmes in the University is based on merit a candidate attains in the CET. The Admission process is taken care of in an expeditious, systematic and transparent manner. A hassle-free CET process has been evolved. A prospective candidate –immediately on the submission of the Application Form – is issued his/her Roll Number, Examination Center, Date and Time of Examination etc. via a single window system. The results are declared as per fixed schedule to facilitate time bound counseling.

End Semester Examination

Besides the Semester System, the University follows Credit based Evaluations. A student has to maintain 75% attendance to appear for an Examination. The students have to undergo regular internal assessments and extensive project work.

The Examination system has been computerized fully. The University is also preparing its own Question Bank to eliminate dependency on external paper setters and ensure adherence of Examination schedule.

Examination & Evaluation Centres

All the affiliated institutions are actively involved in the smooth, efficient and timely conduct of Examination. Some of them have also taken the lead in accepting the onerous task of getting the answer scripts of certain academic programmes evaluated and thus enabling the University in the declaration of results as per preannounce schedule

2.       Delhi Technological University (Formerly Delhi College of Engineering)

DTU offers engineering courses in following disciplines : Automobile Engineering, Bio-Technology, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Engineering Physics, Information Technology, Mathematics and Computing, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science & Chemical Technology, Production & Industrial Engineering, Software Engineering. There are more than 1500 seats in DTU for B Tech. 

The admission to B Tech course is done through JEE Mains and 85% seats are for Delhi Region students. 

3.        NSIT

Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology (Delhi University) is an autonomous institute of Govt of Delhi. NSIT offers B E degree in Electronics and Communication, Computer Engineering, Instrumentation and control, Manufacturing Process and Automation Engineering, Information Technology, Bio Technology. There are 766 seats and admissions are taken through JEE mains and 40% weightage is given to marks in class 12th.

4.       NIT Delhi

National Institute of Delhi offers 4 year bachelor course in Electrical and Electronics Engineering , Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science Engineering.

The admissions take place through JEE. There are 60 seats in each branch.

NIT Delhi also offers Post Graduate courses in Engineering.

5       IIIT Delhi

IIIT Delhi Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Okhla Phase III, New Delhi 20, is one of the Autonomous University in Delhi. IIIT Delhi offers B Tech Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering. There are 120 seats in CSE and 50 seats in ECE. For admissions the JEE mains scores is considered and weightage is given to Board mark and bonus marks are for rank holders in Indian National Olympiad in Informatics or Indian National maths Olympiad. 

For admissions you need to have min 80% marks in aggregate in class 12th. 

6.       Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women  

Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, Kashmere Gate, New Delhi has been upgraded from India Gandhi Institute of Technology in May 2013. The university offers B Tech in computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical and Automation Engineering.  The admission to B Tech course is done through JEE. 85% seats are for Delhi Region students.
